Kellen is thriving. He has the strongest sense of curiosity. You can visualize the gears in his brain moving as he holds something new, moves it back and forth between hands, flips it around, puts it in his mouth, shakes it, and sees if he can push any buttons or have it make noise. Then, he usually throws it on the ground... His vocabulary is actually pretty decent for his age. He says "Mama," "ball," "book", "Papa" (Grandpa), and signs and says "more." He recognizes people in pictures, claps, and puts his arms in the air on cue. He is crawling like a mad man, pulling himself up onto everything he possibly can, and is very comfortable standing. We imagine it's only a short time before he takes those first steps...
He had a 9 month well visit and was almost 23 pounds and was 29 inches long. He's in the 80th percentile. Introducing solids has been fine. We worked our way up slowly, but now we are introducing new stuff all the time. He loves fruit (especially banana), and he hates tofu. He isn't a big fan of plain yogurt or his cereal either. I am still nursing him, and plan to do so until he is 12 months. He continues to sleep through the night marvelously, and his two naps a day are getting longer with the two hour mark as a goal (he actually naps in his car seat set in his crib, ha!).
Kellen is also a giggle monster. We are working on getting video of him busting up laughing, but it's one of those things that each time we grab the Flip, it's just not the same anymore.
We are looking forward to parent-tot swim classes that begin in March. We are taking the class with the Mase & Carlos family. We will definitely post pics when we get some.
All and all, we've got a happy, healthy, and good natured baby on our hands, yet I can't believe that his first birthday is right around the corner (tear).
