8 Month OB visit

Everything seems to be right on track. I gained 2 pounds since last visit, and my fundal height (measuring from pubic bone to the top of the uterus) is right where it should be. The baby's heart rate was at 145. Little Parry (see Parry post below) is extremely active. I’ve been trying to get video, and did get some – but it doesn’t reflect how active this child really is. I’m hoping to post some video of it soon. Week 32 is suppose to be the peak of fetal movement. Parry’s movements will start to wind down as it continues to get more cramped in there.

7 1/2 Month Belly Pics

I'm currently 31 weeks.  I'm in the single digit weekly count down - sheesh, I'm considered full term @ 37 weeks!  Time has gone by so fast.  Have I mentioned that before?  I think I state that in almost every blog post!  To date, I've gained 26 pounds, and although Parry decided to have a dance party in my belly last night at 2:45am, I generally get a decent night's sleep.  Enjoy the pics:

Why do we call the baby Parry?

Since right around Christmas time, Little Lane has received a nickname. Parry. Here's the story...as I was laying on the gurney awaiting thyroidectomy surgery the day before Thanksgiving, Jeremy & Al (Ole Grand Dad Lane) were keeping me company. I expressed to Al that I was worried about my calcium levels and other nutrients this surgery may "take away" from the baby. Al told me, "don't worry! The baby is like a parasite. For example, whatever calcium you aren't able to provide, the baby will just leach from your bones." Much to Grandmo (Maureen) Lane's disliking, we continued to refer to the baby as a parasite on occasion. We later shortened it to Parry, and the name has stuck! Since we don't know the sex of the baby, Parry works much better than having to say "he or she" or "it" all the time. We wonder if we'll still call the baby Parry once born. I doubt it, but if so - you all know the background now.

What to Expect with your Newborn

We went to this class last night, and although quick, it was very informative. The class is also called Welcome to Pediatrics. We basically went over Power Point slides about what is normal & what is not normal. The slides were very detailed including pictures of diaper rash, other various skin conditions, & even poop colors! Yes...colors (plural). We received information about who to call, when to call, and the hours of availability for each option. We also covered breastfeeding, bottle feeding, and a vaccination schedule. Time to find a Pediatrician!

30 Week OB visit

This was a pretty quick visit. Everything looked great. Baby's heart rate was about 148 - 150. My belly measured 30 cm which is right on target, and I only gained a pound since last visit (which was the goal). We received our hospital pre-registration packet which makes this all more real. It's filled with information about the hospital along with a couple forms we are to fill out. Mainly to be sure we are insured and supply info such as visiting hours, a map of the hospital, etc. I go back to Dr. Hua on Feb 24th for my 32 week check up.
Next exciting appointment though is the Welcome to Pediatrics Class. On Feb 16th we'll learn about how the pediatrics department works, what happens in the hospital, and what to look for in the first few weeks at home with the baby. The doctor instructing the class will also go over feeding, common skin conditions, colic, and when to call for help. We will be shown the Camino Division Pediatricians as well (I think through slides). I'll be sure to blog how the class goes on the 18th when I'll be uploading the latest progression belly shots. Until then, Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Making Room for Baby

We have our furniture! We absolutely love it! I also splurged on getting the four piece bedding set because they had it in stock & on sale!! I couldn't be happier with everything! We still need to do some other decorating to complete "my vision," but feel relief that the main furniture is here.

Crib w/ rail down

Changing Table/Dresser
(sorry, there's a spot on my camera lens)
I also got my gestational diabetes results back, and all is good. I was happy considering I ate Sprinkles Cupcakes the night before :) My blood did show that I'm slightly anemic, so I have to take an iron supplement now. Just add it to the daily pill pile!!!
